The Two Head Method

We believe in win-win situations. There are many ways that a student can simultaneously enjoy their studies, learn more and take less time doing it. More than just homework help, we focus on a curriculum that enables students to learn on their own, whenever possible connecting the content of their lessons to the world around them.

Our greatest hope, and our goal with every student is not simply to enable them to ace an essay or a test, but to open within them the same love of learning that has been the driving force in our lives. We’ve learned that once this is in place, A’s become second nature.

We offer:

Bi-weekly practice exams to improve stamina and focus

Comprehensive analyses of practice exams

Personalized assistance and tailored instruction

Economical group-study options

One-on-one sessions for directed improvement

The Tutors

As full time students at University of California, Berkeley, where they both graduated Summa Cum Laude with Highest University Distinction and Phi Beta Kappa, Cameron and Jessica opened a successful, nationally reviewed art gallery (www.alphonseberber.com).

Following graduation they teamed up with performance artist Marina Abramovic to direct the experimental education and performance space Marina Abramovic Institute West in San Francisco.

In 2012, a short time after leaving their directorial roles, they wrote an aria for composer Paul Dooley (www.pauldooley.net), Ulyssea, which was premiered to much acclaim at the Appeldorn Music Fesitval in the Netherlands.

Jessica and Cameron have published a selection of their translation of Francis Ponge’s Le Fabrique du Pré in the Winter 2014 issue of Brick and are currently at work on the libretto for Paul Dooley’s full length opera Gate of Ivory Gate of Horn. As they continue with their own writing and collaborative projects, they are continually reinvigorated by their work with students and hope one day to open their own alternative school and artist residency.

Cameron Jackson

While in his teens, Cameron worked for the YMCA as a youth leader and later for the Boy’s and Girl’s Club as an Assistant Athletic Director.

During his years at Berkeley and while on breaks, he has been a highly successful and sought-after tutor for both Ivy West and Revolution Test Prep, where his specialty was SAT Math.

In 2009 he won the Richardson Latin Translation Prize for a translation of a selection of Ovid.

In the past two years, in addition to his work with Jessica, he has spent time traveling, learning across disciplines and writing.

Jessica Cox

Jessica has a passion for learning that extends beyond the classroom. In 2016 she’s launching her unique online course: Intro to Honors.

Intro to Honors is the only step-by-step training that shows students how to achieve top grades and turn 4 years of college into career capital.

Her dream is to empower students to achieve greatness – and not let not knowing how to do so hold them back!

Her motto is study less by studying smarter.

With 5 years of tutoring experience she makes this a reality for her students, helping them gain confidence and build a marketable skill set.

Happy Students and Parents

We highly recommend Two Head Tutors, without reservation. Our son (now a senior in high school) has long struggled with ADD and dyslexia. Organizing his thoughts and writing about them has always been a particular challenge for him. To help him, Cameron used a unique approach to writing, which involved relating the topic to one’s own personal experience and emotions, and which turned out to be the key that unlocked his writing ability.

Not only did Cameron coach him through his required OAKS achievement testing, but our son, always rated a below average writer, scored an unbelievable 700 on the SAT writing exam after preparing with Cameron. More importantly, he gained a huge amount of confidence in his ability to express his thoughts, which will help him in the music college he will be attending.

Marge

Tutoring with Jessica has not only prepared me for the SAT, but it also taught me to apply all those strategies to my other classes. It has significantly improved my performance as a student.
